Frequently Asked Questions
Why are the prices so low?
We keep our prices low by avoiding the costs and maintenance of expensive high street shops. Our savings are then passed onto you.
Is it possible to get bifocals/varifocals?
Yes. We supply the widely used bifocal lens called D28, D35, R24, R38, executive (line across the lens side to side) which is made from the standard index optical plastic. For varifocals, we will need to send a qualified dispensing optician to take the required measurements before the order can be placed by us.
How and when are my glasses despatched?
Your glasses will be sent to you by post. Single vision glasses are normally despatched within 7-10 working days from the receipt of your order. Bifocal and varifocal glasses are normally despatched within 10 working days from the receipt of your order. A postage charge of £5.00 applies.
Can I use my contact lens prescription to order my glasses?
No, you will need a glasses prescription as it contains information we require.
What do I need to order my glasses?
You will need the information contained on the last prescription issued to you by your optician. The prescription must not be more than 2 years old (no more than 1 year if aged 60 or above) from the date of the order.
If you do not have a valid prescription, you are entitled to obtain one from your optician. By law, the optician is not allowed to insist or imply that you are obliged to buy spectacles from them.
What does PD mean?
PD stands for Pupillary Distance. It is the distance between the pupil of one eye and the pupil of the other eye. You can have an eye test at your opticians and request a measurement of your PD.
If you experience difficulty in obtaining this measurement we can take it if it is necessary from an existing pair of your glasses.
Can I have lenses put in my own frame?
Yes we can potentially fit new lenses in your existing frame. You will need to send us your frame so that we can determine whether or not it is possible.
